I Shot The Sheriff

It's the first blog in quarantine guys!!! My blog this week is about Bob Marley and The Wailers version of the song I Shot The Sheriff. The first thought I had while listening to this song was the vibe that Marley and the Wailers create in the song to give a relaxing tone to listen to especially in times like these and I also like the drums, and the trumpet involved throughout the song which meshes perfectly with the other instruments to give the vibe I have been talking about with the perfect singing of Bob Marley. Even though the song is about someone who is accused of shooting the sheriff, and tries to deny the claim of shooting and killing the sheriff of the town, and was using self-defense. Overall I like this song, and everyone be safe out there, and be good people see you next time!

  1. Although I think I prefer the Eric Clapton version of this song, I agree that Marley's version has very nice vibes to it. His voice has the ability to soothe you even while singing about a topic such as shooting a person. I hope your quarantine is going well, stay safe and healthy!

  4. I really enjoy this song, Bob Marley is a chill artist and this song is one that brings that chill vibe. So I agree with you when you talk about the vibe that the song puts off. I also agree with you that the lyrics don't really go along with the vibe that is put off.

  5. Bob Marley is such a cool artist. His music is very different than many people at the time. He had many great songs and this is my favorite of his. I prefer his over the Eric Clapton version actually. He just has a special way that makes it better than Eric.

  6. Woohoo quarantine Lol. Anyways, I listened to this song again to respond to your post. I typically love the contrast between darker lyrics and an upbeat sound, and I think Bob Marley does a great job of this concept here. I think The Wailers really set this song apart as well. The harmony they present in it is really unique. Stay safe ;)

It is interesting that the point is about someone being accused of shooting the sheriff but has such a chill vibe. in times like these being quarantine this is a perfect song to listen to. Only good vibes. everything you said was spot on.

  8. I agree with you with the vibe of the song that it’s kind of happy. I always enjoyed this song as a kid because it just had a bumping feel to it. As I got older, I listened to the lyrics and I thought ‘oh this isn’t what I thought the song talked about.” I enjoy the song that you picked.

  10. Hope you are doing well during quarantine guys. This song is very catchy and has such an upbeat mood even though the lyrics are not as upbeat (about shooting the corrupt sheriff but not the followers as they were only following orders aka the deputy). I really enjoy listening to this song during these times as it helps to take my mind off of things. Thank you for your comments I enjoyed reading your post!
