Respect

This week I listened to Aretha Franklin's song named respect. Franklin is one of the best singers of soul music of all time, rightfully earning the name 'The Queen Of Soul". The song respect has a uplifting appeal to it and defiently is a soul music song. The meaning of the song to me is that there is a woman doing everything for the man she loves, but the man disrespects her, and all she wants is the title of the song which is resepct. I like the mixture of instruements throughout the song including the trumpet, and the mixture of the drums makes the sound perfect. But my favortie part of the song is when franklin spells out Respect by each letter getting the point across that all women deserve respect in the world, and that can defitnley be applied to todays world.

  1. I also listened to this song, and agree with you when she spells out respect its iconic. I feel empathy towards her because I feel like she has fought so hard for the respect she deserves. I can definitely tell why she may be the "Queen of Soul." Great blog I enjoyed reading it.

  2. I definitely have to agree that Aretha Franklin rightfully earned that name, she is extremely talented. I think that the beat is very uplifting as well, and I think it's a very catchy song. My favorite part of the song is also when she spells out respect just because it sounds so good and is so catchy. Good job on your blog!

  3. I love this song and it definitely has become such an iconic song with it being played in multiple movies. She is the "Queen of Soul" and the song she sang I agree is about her doing everything to please her man and he disrespects her because she is a woman (song is used for feminist movements) and she decides to not take it anymore and demands for some respect.
